For our open "Computer Education Department Head" position to start in the 2024-2025 academic year, we are searching for candidates who are:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduated
from the Computer Education Department of the universities or graduated
from the Computer Department and has a teaching formation.
- Able
to communicate and teach in spoken and written English fluently.
- Preferably
experienced in IB Computer Science and/or IB ITGS and/or IB Digital
Society courses.
- Preferably
experienced in digital technology skills such as 2D/3D design, multimedia
applications, coding, game/app development, robotics.
- Preferably
has experience as a department head or as an administrator in a K12
school.
- Preferably
with a master's degree.
- At
least with 5 years of school experience.
- Experienced
in working with high school students.
- Open
to professional development and on-going learning.
- Equipped
with effective communication skills.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTY
This position will be responsible
for the below departmental duties:
- Leading
the development and implementation of the High School Computer Education
Program,
- Coordinating
the training of all high school students and teachers on academic
technology tools,
- Determining
the High School Computer Education standards and making the necessary
planning to reflect these standards in the high school syllabus,
- Leading
the High School Computer Education department in planning and coordinating
all High School level computer courses,
- Coordinating
the execution of IBDP program DS and CS courses in accordance with IB
principles,
- Identifying
the appropriate technology tools and coordinating teacher and employee
training on these tools in order to increase the efficiency of courses and
improve the motivation and communication of all stakeholders,
- Coordination
of extracurricular activities related to digital technologies,
- High
school computer teaching (for a limited number of hours, taking into
account other responsibilities).
This position will be responsible for the below
administrative duties:
- Carry out educational activities related to the course or courses
in which s/he is the HoD in a planned manner.
- Schedule and attend department meetings and department level
meetings
- Ensure that the annual plans related to the courses s/he is
responsible for are made and implemented in the best way.
- Take the necessary measures for the orientation process of new
teachers to the school
- Provide necessary opportunity for teachers to improve themselves
- Plan activities in the training programs in line with the needs and requirements
- Prepare a report on the subjects covered in the courses s/he is
responsible for, the studies carried out, the difficulties encountered in
teaching and their solutions at the end of each year.
- Provide regular feedback to teachers about their educational work.
- Share the decisions taken in the administrative meetings at the
school and the reasons for these decisions with the teachers in the
department, receive opinions, suggestions and thoughts from the teachers
in the department to set as an agenda item in the administrative meeting.
- Ensure that LMS platforms contain common information at all levels
and are up-to-date for each department
- Follow up on teachers' leaves
- Not share school applications and programs with other institutions
or individuals
- Ensure and supervise that the annual and weekly plans of the
department teachers s/he is responsible for, are made in a timely,
complete and coordinated manner.
- Monitor the department, level teachers’ committee and
parent-teacher meetings of teachers under their responsibility, announce
these meetings to the related people, organize and supervise department
meetings.
- Submit a copy of the level meeting minutes to the administration
- Work in coordination with the deans to organize trips outside the
school, in the province and outside the province, to get the necessary
permissions in time and to carry out the trips in a way that is fit for
purpose and safe.
- Evaluate the written exam grades by creating a Grade Distribution
Chart before they are announced and share them with the relevant dean.
- Take the necessary precautions regarding the lessons of the teacher
who could not come to school for any reason, ensure that the lessons are
covered, and inform the High School Principal’s Office on the subject in a
timely manner.
- When necessary, organize and follow-up studies in the department,
lead the department in common exam plans and curriculum preparations.
- Establish collaboration between course teachers to ensure and
develop the order of education related to their department
- Plan and convey the lesson distribution of the teachers
- Collaborates with other department heads to support the students’
interdisciplinary development
- Make sure that the exam questions are valid, reliable and are
prepared in line with the objectives and that the exam time is
appropriate.
- Prepare questions and answer keys for common exams, make-up exams
etc., check them and ensure that exam activities are conducted smoothly
- Prepare the annual project topics together with the department,
inform the relevant deans and announce them to the students at the
beginning of the semester
- Carry out orientation for new teachers in the department, ensure
that information about the school’s operations are provided to the new
teachers.
- Prepare end of semester and year end reports, send them to the
School Principal.
- Participate in district level/department leaders’ meetings.
- Participate in level teachers’ meetings.
- Participate in Full Faculty meetings.
- Participate in the ceremony committee, support establishing
programs.
- Establish a harmonious and collaborative work environment within the department.
