Head of English Department (Primary School, Grades K-4)


Description

The Koç School seeks an experienced and inspiring leader to serve as Head of the English Department for the Primary School (Kindergarten to Grade Four), starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. This role combines leadership with teaching responsibilities and requires a candidate with teaching expertise and leadership experience within the K-4 age range.

The ideal candidate will lead English instruction, oversee curriculum planning, and ensure K-12 alignment with Middle and High School departments. As Head of the Department, they will manage a team of nineteen teachers, promoting bilingualism and supporting students' linguistic development.

Strong leadership, subject expertise, and a commitment to high teaching standards are essential to advance our mission of delivering an inspiring English language education.


Qualifications and Expectations

Education and Certification

  • Undergraduate degree in English Language or Literature.

  • Certified teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, MED) and a valid Certificate of Diploma Equivalence from Turkey's Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience, preferably with leadership experience in a primary school setting.


Instructional Expertise and Experience

  • Strong understanding of early literacy development and Cambridge International program standards.

  • Experience with ESL/EFL learners and non-native English speakers.

  • Familiarity with CLIL and modern educational approaches.


Skills and Competencies 

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment, demonstrating adaptability and cultural sensitivity.
